Southern California’s Most Diverse Wedding and Events Band
Southern California’s Most Diverse Wedding and Events Band
Midnight Ride was formed in November, 2009 and has performed over 600 shows across 11 different counties since. This is the most versatile 5-piece cover band in all of Southern California, with a repertoire that spans across 7 decades, covering music from the 1950's-2010's.
Each talented member has years of stage experience. Drummer Scott and Bassist Shawn keep the Midnight Ride engine running strong and groovy, while Guitarist Joel unleashes beefy chords and tasty solos. Our keyboardist Max will also layer on the funky sounds and professional textures, just like the record! Last but certainly not least, we add in the powerful and versatile lead vocalist, Hannah, showing off her powerful range while commanding the crowd with her soulful vocals and high energy.
With this band you get top notch musicianship, sweet harmonies, and high energy stage presence. But most importantly, this band's #1 priority is making sure that every audience has a great time; they take the satisfaction of their crowds very seriously!
Midnight Ride plays everything from clubs and casinos to private parties and large concerts. Contact us for our reasonable rates or any additional questions.
Meet the multi-talented members of Midnight Ride who know how to keep venues rocking all day and night.
Bass & Vocals
Shawn grew up listening to the most fantastic rock music from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. His dad is a very good singer and helped shape Shawn’s musical upbringing. He picked up guitar at age 17 and earned an associates degree in music from Ventura College. Shawn has been performing in rock cover bands across California since 1999. Shawn formed Midnight Ride in November 2009 with the goal of providing a fantastic rock show where people can 1) have a great time, 2) dance the night away, and 3) be left begging for more. Shawn is the high flying bassist/vocalist and Music Director for Midnight Ride and plays a Fender American Precision and Hamer 5-string basses.
When asked why Midnight Ride stands out from the competition, his response was “Our collective stage experience and musical talent is evident each time we hit the stage, no matter if there is 5 people in attendance or 5,000. We always put on an entertaining and high-flying show that fully rocks audiences all across California!”.
Lead Guitar & Vocals
Joel is a Los Angeles based guitarist and singer-songwriter. He grew up overseas in Hong Kong, and relocated to Los Angeles to study at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood in 2009, and to begin his career in the music industry. For the past 5 years he has performed at countless major performance venues around Southern California, performing with local music acts, musicals, weddings, and other productions. Joel loves playing all the great music that Midnight Ride plays regularly, and he hope his playing gets you on your feet dancing!
Drums & Vocals
Scott is a highly trained drummer, percussionist and music educator. He graduated from the College-Conservatory Of Music at the University Of Cincinnati in 2014 and soon after moved to Los Angeles where he currently teaches and performs music full-time.
He graduated as magnum cum laude from CCM's rigorous double-degree program of Percussion Performance and Music Education, and also received the Presser Scholarship Award for his exemplary teaching skills.
Scott's performance and recording experience includes a multitude of different bands and ensembles. Scott has played drum set in rock bands and jazz ensembles, performed on numerous orchestral percussion instruments in symphonic bands and orchestras, and has played timpani for various opera and musical theatre productions. Through his extensive training and experience, he has developed the skill set to be able to play in any performance scenario.
Lead Vocals & Percussion
Hannah is from Dublin, Ireland, and has always been involved in singing and acting. She began taking classical singing lessons at the age of six. As a child and young adult she was a member of various classical choirs and had leading roles in school musicals.
After school she completed an honours degree in Sociology at University College Dublin (UCD), which included an erasmus year in the University of Copenhagen. During this period her classical singing education continued at the Conservatory of Music in the Dublin Institute of Technology, based in Rathmines.
After her degree at UCD she completed a two-year Certificate of Contemporary Music at Newpark School of Music, during which she was awarded a scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music, Boston. She graduated from Berklee in 2017 with a first class honours degree in Professional Music, with concentrates in Performance, Contemporary, Writing and Production, and Songwriting.
In recent years Hannah has evolved from being a classical singer into having a more contemporary Jazz sound. Key influences include Jazz singer Sarah Vaughan and Classical soprano singer Renée Fleming. Hannah combines Jazz and Classical styles of singing, with influences from Irish traditional music. During live performances she uses her jazz improvisation skills with an Irish traditional 'Sean-nós' (literally 'old way') style of singing to create a worldly fusion of the three styles.
Hannah moved to L.A after graduating from Berklee, where she is pursuing performance opportunities, and musical experiences to refine and develop her unique singing style.
Hannah is also a keen actress and had a lead role in a two series hit Irish Television series “Damo and Ivor”, where she played the character of “Sara- Jane”; the love interest in the series. Damo and Ivor the movie has just finished filming, with a release date in March 2018. She also starred in the award winning film “Lift” as “Fiona” (2015).
Max played piano on his grandfather's knee before he learned how to walk. Max began his musical journey as a percussionist, studying under Judy Chilnick, premier Los Angeles Tympanist and mallet player. He attended Sonoma State University as a Jazz Vibraphone player, which easily translated into developing as an accomplished keyboard player. Max then augmented his music education at CSUN playing drumset and studying composition for television and film.
Max is owner of Desert Sounds Studio in Palmdale, CA. While not performing with Midnight Ride, he plays for the Funky-Vintage-Indie-Soul band "Ms Maura & The Misters" Max is a multi instrumentalist, and teaches piano, drums, and bass.

• Gold Package = $2400. This package includes 4 sets of live music for your reception. Midnight Ride will learn up to 2 special songs for you not already on our current song list. We will MC your wedding and ensure that all of your special events are announced.
• Silver Package = $1800. This package includes 3 sets of live music for your reception. Midnight Ride will learn 1 special song for you not already on our current song list. We will MC your wedding and ensure that all of your special events are announced.

Midnight Ride will learn 1 special song for you not already on our current song list. We will MC your wedding and ensure that all of your special events are announced.
Can Midnight Ride provide a “Master of Ceremonies” (M.C., Emcee)?
Sure! Our band leader, Shawn, can ensure that all of your special announcements and activities are communicated throughout, keeping your special day moving along seamlessly. We just ask that you provide us with your event’s details and times beforehand. M.C. duties are included at no extra charge.
How will Midnight Ride participate in the timeline of our event?
We advise that you provide us with a detailed timeline of your wedding. This timeline should include the timing of toasts, the first dance and other special dances, cake-cutting, any announcements, surprises, or whatever else you would want us to be aware of. Also, please provide the names of people in the wedding party (bride, groom, etc.) and any other significant contacts such as wedding planners or catering managers. We can also accept the timeline developed by your wedding planner. In the final 7-10 days before your event, we integrate the timeline information with your song selections and our best repertoire of music. This way, everyone is in agreement about what will happen when. Of course, changes occur during the event itself and we can easily adapt to those changes.
When do you arrive for set-up?
We typically arrive at least 90 minutes before guests arrive. If you have any special requests on our arrival time, we will try to accommodate you and your guests.
What if I want the band to play overtime?
We are frequently asked to play longer at events, as we have such a great song list. If you decide that you want the band to play beyond the contracted time, just let us know by the last contracted set of the event. You will be asked to sign an overtime authorization and to pay for overtime immediately after the event. Midnight Ride’s overtime rate is set at $400 per half hour.
Once I decide that I’d like Midnight Ride to perform at my wedding, how long should I wait before I book the band?
The sooner the better. We frequently get multiple requests for the same date and sometimes we book out a year or more. Also, some band members have other musical projects that they're involved in and coordinate their other performances around Midnight Rides’ schedule. Your earliest booking greatly reduces scheduling conflicts and makes it much more likely that all of our regular, “first call” band members will be available for your event.
Can Midnight Ride provide musicians to play jazz/pop/standards during the cocktail hour?
Yes, we can provide an acoustic line-up of the band to play standards as background music for your guests. We can provide acoustic guitar, vocals and piano. This would be an additional fee of $300 for a 30 minute set or $400 for a 60 minute set.
Is there a deposit required to book Midnight Ride and reserve our date?
Yes, in order to reserve your date, we do require a $750 deposit. Once the contract is sent and signed by both parties, the deposit is dues within 24 hours (payable via cashier’s check/money order/Venmo). The deposit is non-refundable unless agreed upon by both parties or if Midnight Ride needs to cancel for any unforeseen circumstances (we’ve never cancelled!).
Can I give the band the final payment the day of the event?
Yes, the final payment is due on the day of the event. You may want to have a designated bill payer during the event, as you probably don’t have time to be scrambling about to pay us when you have dozens of other more important things to worry about. You may also pay in full any time before the date.
How many songs does the band play during the reception and can I customize from your song list?
We will play between 2-4 sets, depending on the package you choose, with each set being approximately 13 songs in length. You will receive an updated copy of our song list and are encouraged to not only select songs from this list, but also select songs that you DO NOT want us to play. With over 600 shows performed, we know how to keep the dancing going so please allow us some creative freedom to fill in your song selections with others that are guaranteed crowd pleasers!
How long are sets and breaks?
Sets are usually 45 minutes with a 15 minute break in between. We are not strict about this as some events are planned with alternative break placements and lengths. Very frequently dinner delays or other unforeseen circumstances result in us taking only 2 breaks, one of which is longer. We often end the event with a longer set of music if it helps keep the party rolling!
Will the band bring a device to play recorded music during their breaks?
Yes. The band will bring a device (iphone/ipod,etc.) to play recorded music. Or better yet, if you provide a customized playlist for us on your device or on a music streaming service like Spotify, even better! You may also want to consider scheduling toasts during band breaks.
What if I need to change the performance times that are on my contract?
Please let us know immediately so we can inform all of the musicians. This will avoid any possible scheduling conflicts. We request that no event start times be changed within the last 2 weeks prior to your event. Delays in our start time requested by the client at the event (i.e. ceremony or photo shoot runs late) does not alter our end time without incurring overtime payment.
What equipment does your band provide?
We provide everything except lighting and a stage. We have a great PA system that includes a Presonus 16 channel digital mixer and, depending on the venue size, up to 3 Peavey Dark Matter 15” mains and an 18” Peavey Dark Matter subwoofer. We provide all microphones/cables/stands and instruments.
Can our guests use your microphone for special announcements/toasts?
Yes! We have at least one wireless microphone that your guests can use upon request.
How do you accept payment?
We accept cashier’s checks, money orders, cash and Venmo!
Is tipping the band appropriate?
Tips are not solicited or expected but are certainly appreciated!
But what if the band doesn’t show up?
In the 8 year existence of Midnight Ride this has NEVER HAPPENED. We take great pride in our reputation as professionals and we are obligated to perform by contract.
What happens if one of the band members gets sick or is unable to perform?
We will replace him or her with a musician of equal ability and professionalism. Since we perform often, we have compiled a list of top singers and musicians who have frequently played with us and know our particular arrangements.
What will the band wear to my event?
We will discuss your preferences with you. Normally, the male performers will wear black button down shirts, black dress pants and dress shoes. The female performers will wear a dress. Some corporate events call for a relaxed, casual appearance, although this is still “dressy” rather than “grungy”. We will try to accommodate you in any way we can.
What are the band’s power requirements?
It is best if the band has easy access to two 20-amp dedicated circuits. In the past, we have run off a single, larger power generator for some of our concert in the park and other outdoor events. Unfortunately, the band does not provide a generator.
How much room does the band need?
Ideally, the minimum stage is 10’ x 16’ to allow for maximum freedom of movement in singer’s dance steps and other performance routines. Stages are ideally 12-18” high or higher. This provides excellent visual sightlines as well as optimal sound projection of all frequencies across a crowded dance floor. However, shorter stages are also acceptable. In fact, we frequently play in rooms that do not have a stage at all, and the reported experience is very good for all guests. The band does not provide stages.
Do I need to provide meals for the band?
This will be indicated on your contract. It really is good relations to provide meals to band members whose driving, set-up, playing, teardown, and drive-back time may easily exceed 10 hours. Our experience has been that most clients appreciate all of our pre-event efforts that they often regard us as friends before we even play the first note! They often want to give us the "guest meal," which we prefer. However, we recognize the validity of budget concerns and we gladly accept the less expensive "vendor meals" that many venues can provide.
Does the band bring their own lighting or umbrella?
No. You will be required to provide adequate lighting and an umbrella (or another form of shade) if it is an outdoor daytime performance. Additionally, please provide heaters for the band if necessary. Keep in mind, if your guest are cold, your band is also cold. Frozen fingers and frozen vocal cords are no bueno!
Will the band learn any songs that are not on their current song list?
We can learn up to 2 songs per event if it’s not already on our extensive song list. If you have any special request, please let us know AT LEAST four weeks PRIOR to your event. Please provide us with the audio file if it is not well-known song. Also, some weddings that we’ve performed requested that we learned just a part of a song and then medley/segway into another song that is on our list. If you have that type of request, please let us know asap.
Midnight Ride would be honored to perform for your company event. We will bring the party and have the dance floor packed all night long! You can even customize our extensive song list to fit your event.
